![]() The PS4 and Xbox One are still chugging along, but their days in the spotlight are done and dusted on the other hand, the Switch looks like it has a few more years left in it before a replacement comes along. Consequently, there will always be room for this subgenre, and that was certainly the case in the last console generation. A lot has changed since the era of Alone in the Dark, Clock Tower, and Silent Hill, however, one thing that has remained consistent is the public's love for a good fright. ![]() Updated Apby Mark Sammut: Survival horror is the gift that keeps on giving. It doesn't matter if it was also released on the PS3 or Xbox Series X/S. Note: Any game available on the PS4 or Xbox One will be considered. Which are the best survival horror games from the last generation? It may have not reached the heights of the genre's heyday back in the late '90s/early '00s, but players were still treated to a decent roster of terrifying games that were also a blast to play through. Thankfully, the PS4 and Xbox One console generation had no shortage of amazing horror experiences. Every console by every manufacturer has had their fair share of stinkers over the decades, but Switch has taken "Quantity Over Quality" to a ridiculous level, and all to try vainly to cover up those months-long voids between first-party and major third-party releases.Įvery Nintendo Switch Online N64 Game Rankedĥ0 Best Game Boy Color (GBC) Games Of All Time So yeah, I can't exactly say that I'm excited for another "Nindies" showcase. I imagine that it's extremely difficult for any Indie company to break even let alone profit in a situation like that. Combined with the eShop's less than ideal menus, it's a huge detriment to the entire catalog because deserving titles.including some of those very Indies.get pushed "below the fold" and out of sight by all the crap flooding in week after week. The eShop's menu is absolutely jammed with complete garbage that the Nintendo of yesteryear would wisely never have allowed on their platforms. But let's be honest: the truly deserving Indie titles on the eShop probably account for less than 1 percent. ![]() I realize some Indie games (Wargroove, Shovel Knight, Undertale, etc.) have earned a big following and are great games regardless of the publisher's size. Though Sony needs to respond now, or soon, and not just keep talking up TLOOU2 and Ghosts. So yeah, MS hitting the road, knocking on doors, getting the word out, which is good, but I think they need to more than Sony does. (Full disclosure I bought the $380 bundle.) PS5 might not have any exclusives "at launch" either, but 1 full year? Day 1 buyers will buy regardless, but what about 3 months, 6 months, 9 months? Who's buying 1 then when their X1 plays all the same games? Switch had the dual release Zelda (less said about 1 2 Switch the better) at launch but Mario Odyssey 8 months later surely, that sold some consoles. ![]() Sure, X1 outsold Wii U, double, or likely triple, but unlike Nintneod MS does see itself as a Sony competitor, and PS4 sales are double to triple X1.Īnd personally I think MS shot itself in the foot, yes yet again, w/ it's "No XSX exclusives for the first year" comment. Myself and about 3 other people are reading about it over on "sister site" Pure Xbox.īut just like Nintneod had to advertise Switch so much more after Wii U's failure, MS HAS to talk up XSX after what could be considered an equivalent failure for X1.
